Happy New Years Eve!

Happy New Years Eve!

I have not gotten a bit of sewing done since before Christmas. Guess that was good though, have not bought anything either!

Ryan (My Dear Husband and Santa) filled my stocking with all sorts of quilting gadgets. He picked out a new set of rulers, of various sizes, 12.5", 9.5", 6.5", and 4.5", some new sewing machine needles of various sizes and a new set of extra fine glass head pins. I can not wait to get started using my new tools.

First on the list of things I want to work on is to finish the binding on a Christmas Advent Calender. Then to work on finishing my Christmas String Block Quilt. The string blocks were from a swap on the HGTV Message board. Brandyquilter was our wonderful hostess and I got several neat blocks back. I was not so excited with how the top was turning out, but I persevered and well I am still not sure I like the final result. Ryan does though and that is what counts! I did manage to use stash for the border, backing and batting! Way to go!

Why make a Quilting blog?

I set up a week or so ago a "Vaughan Family Blog" and have had such a great time doing so. I have enjoyed posting pictures and videos of Sophie and Marcus and having all of our friends and family share in all of our happenings.

I belong to a great group of ladies on the HGTV-Quilting and Needlework boards. They have been a great source of inspiration and encourgement to expand my knowledge, push my creativity and of course bust my stash! This year I was part of subgroup of Ladies who were "Stashbusters". Our goal was to use up our existing stash or "fabric collections" in projects. Well I am proud to say that I not only learned to shop from my stash first, I finished several UFO's and had a great time doing so. I am not saying that I don't enjoy a little fabric retail therapy every now and then, but I really have assessed my fabric usage and tried to make it work with what ever I already have. Not only have I been successful, I have been plesantly suprised with how things turned out. The HGTV girls support was amazing and I can not wait for 2009 where I can continue to bust the stash...

Goals for 2009:
1. Finish up 10 UFO's. Quilting, binding, label the works.

2. Work on Nickel Quilt Project with leader and enders.

3. Keep a running tally of stah in and stash out for the week.

4. Make a quilt, from stash for ME!

5. Bust through a net of 25 yards of stash. So for every yard that comes in, a yard needs to come out!

I am sure I will add more goals later on, and promise to keep you all updated as to my progress and projects I am working on.
